Who We Are

The Caledonian Family of Awards are National Awards for young people & Adults with Additional Support Needs which aims to offer all of these young people the opportunity to achieve their potential thus increasing their independence.

The Caledonian Award has developed into an independent organisation which still works closely with other Award Schemes. The Award programmes have developed into a curriculum model used by many Schools, Resource Centres & Leisure Groups working within this specialised area.

The Caledonian Family of Awards are the only National Achievement Awards available to young people with severe, profound or complex learning disabilities and those with moderate learning difficulties compounded by social, emotional & behavioural difficulties.

The number of participants involved in the Awards continues to grow rapidly, without active promotion, as does the number of Awards gained. The sense of Achievement felt by the Award participants is obvious to all who attend the Award presentations, as well as the leaders and parents. The demand from new units, leaders and participants is now at a level, which has required the number of staff & volunteers working within the Headquarters to be increased.
